a poetic failure

for some things
there are no syllables

some things
like losing a dream
to an abyss
or the fire in your soul
some things
like grieving in a void
beyond understanding

hey, that's an idea
for a verse, isn't it?
perhaps, the lyric would be:

the sun didn't rise this morning
or yesterday morning
or the morning before that
she hovered silently
below the thin horizon
maybe a year or so ago
and there she stood still
where her presence could be slightly felt
and a lost soul could barely anticipate
a bright ray of hope

the sun stood still in darkness
and hovered below the wide horizon
patiently waiting for disaster
the shedding of a Mississippi
River of tears, a tragic drowning
in a gulf of trepidation

no, it's not yet a song
not even a middle c
on the last string
of a broken violin
just a tragic failure at  timing
   meter,   reason and   rhyme

just a tragic failure
                                   at     timing
                                             meter
                                           reason

                                                and     rhyme
