Red Shoes
and Blue Blues
Her lover was a cad
Had a habit of making her feel really bad
So she bought some red-red shoes
For cheer when he gave her the blues
She would wear them day or night
With only white or colors really bright
Yellow, orange or pale lime like spring
For a touch of class, one ruby teardrop earring
To the world a happy face she always showed
But in the misery of her painful abode
All she ever did was cry; just cry
Till not a single spot in the place was dry
Then one day after flaunting a pretty woman
Not somewhere else, but right in her face
He ranted and raged like a raving madman
About the disgrace her tearstains made the place
He said she should certainly take better care of him
She sould take notes on how good Sally treated Jim
How Sally always rubbed her husband on his nose
Massaged his ankles and kissed his toes
Then he really lit her fuse
Said she looked slutty in her ugly red shoes
She was mad as hell as she apologized
For being so inadequate and lowly in his eyes
"I'll do better" desperately she promised him
Then she gave his hair a professional trim
Cut it into a most perfect crew
And followed through with a great shampoo
Shaved his face as close as cash
Gave some shape to his scrawny moustache
Clipped his nails and plucked a wild eyelash
Then deftly swept the mess into a calabash
Now she had done everything to perfection
She placed mirrors to see himself, every direction
He grunted, squinted and found ten ways to complain
About how her hot tears left unsightly stains
In ghostly silence she fetched his favorite brew
Leaned down and kissed him on his brand new crew
Whispered low perfect clear, "Sweetie here’s to
your good cheer" As she slit his throat ear to ear
Then tenderly she donned her pretty red shoes
And clothed herself in different shades of blues
More striking than the first breath of spring
She topped it off with her ruby teardrop earring
Into nignt she walked toward ever lively Frisco bay
Her red shoes shining against majestic sidewalk gray
Music swing and sway, erasing harsh events of the day
She danced a sultry night away
Had a habit of making her feel really bad
So she bought some red-red shoes
For cheer when he gave her the blues
She would wear them day or night
With only white or colors really bright
Yellow, orange or pale lime like spring
